About the Place<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the well-known hill towns in Kumaon, Uttarakhand, is Nainital. Nainital is an ideal weekend retreat from Delhi and the surrounding areas. During the British era, the town was the summer capital of the United Provinces, and it retains a significant colonial past, with bustling clusters of mansions and bungalows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is well-known for its picturesque lakes, breathtaking vistas of the Himalayas, and pleasant climate. Nainital is located at an elevation of roughly 2084 meters above sea level. Nainital is located in a valley with a two-mile-long emerald colored lake in the shape of an eye. This lovely town is encircled by seven hills known popularly as the ‘Sapta-Shring’: Ayarpata, Deopata, Handi-Bandi, Naina, Alma, Lariya-Kanta, and Sher-Ka-Danda. One of the 52 Shakti Peeths, or energy centers, or sacred sites where portions of the Sati (Parvati) fell to Earth during Lord Shiva’s conveyance is Nainital. Nainital (Nain as Eyes) (Tal as Lake) is the name given to the location where Sati’s eyes, or Nain, dropped. At the Naina Devi Temple, located on the lake’s northern bank, Goddess Shakti is worshipped. The view of the lake from here is breathtaking. There is also a Gurudwara and a Mosque nearby, demonstrating religious peace and harmony. Tallital and Mallital, the two halves of Nainital, are divided by a lake. The northern upper sections of the lake are known as Mallital, and the southern side is known as Tallital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
