About the Place
The scenic village of Mori is situated alongside the Tons River in Uttarakhand’s northwestern Garhwal area, in the Uttarkashi district. It is located at a height of around 3770 feet (1150 meters) above sea level. It is a peaceful hill town at the entrance to the Tons valley. The lofty deodars, pines, and chestnuts trees of the Mori Forest are well-known for their size. The River Tons is thought to have been formed by the Surpanakha (A character from famous Indian Epic Ramayana) demon’s tears.
How to Reach
From Delhi: It is nearly 412 km from Delhi*. The route is via Panipat -> Karnal -> Ladwa -> Radaur -> Paonta Sahib -> Herbertpur -> Vikasnagar -> Dakpatthar -> Dumet. From Dumet switchover from Vikasnagar-Chakrata Road to Vikasnagar-Barkot Road and reach Naugaon. At Naugaon switchover to Naugaon-Purola road and reach Mori.
From Dehradun: It is nearly 176 km from Dehradun*. The route is via Sudhowala -> Selakui -> Sahaspur -> Dakpatthar -> Dumet. From Dumet use Vikasnagar-Barkot Road and reach Naugaon. At Naugaon switchover to Naugaon-Purola road and reach Mori.

Things to do
The picturesque hill town of Mori is a great place to go for camping, water rafting, hiking, wandering through the jungle, rock climbing, bird watching, cycling, kayaking, fishing, star gazing and rappelling. The area offers a lot of adventure, and river activities like rafting, kayaking, and fishing are available. Here you can find the nicest pine woods in all of Asia. The location’s two most significant attractions are the Lunagad Creek and the ancient Duryodhan (A famous character of The Great Indian Epic Mahabharata) Temple.
For rafting and other summertime adventure sports, Mori is renowned for its campsites on the sandy banks of Tons river.
Around Mori
During the summer, visitors can trek to the Bandar poonch glacier. Netwar, located in Uttarkhand’s Sankri range, is a tranquil hamlet surrounded by pine and deodar trees at the headwaters of Tons River, a major tributary of the Yamuna River. It is nearly 12 km from Mori. Netwar is a mesmerizing and engaging location due to its exquisite wooden architecture, active bird singing, lush green paddy fields, rich flora and fauna, and the peaceful confluence of the Rupin and Supin Rivers. Netwar, 11 kilometers before Sankri village, is the beginning site for Govind Pashu Vihar National Park.
Jakhol Village is located in the Mori block of Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand, 19 kilometers from Netwar, and the entry gate to Govind National Park. It is a lovely hamlet surrounded by the Garhwal Himalayas, would make your heart skip a beat. Someshwar Mahadev Temple, a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, is located here.
